There hasn't been a new main Crazy Taxi game for 24 years. Now, Sega has finally pulled back the curtain on the reboot, officially titled Crazy Taxi World Tour. The first full reveal shows a game that aims to blend the chaotic arcade-style driving of the original with modern online multiplayer features.
The trailer showcases the familiar fast-paced gameplay where players pick up passengers and race against the clock to deliver them through crowded city streets. The new entry expands the experience with a large open world, allowing multiple players to drive around the same map simultaneously. This shift to an online shared world is the biggest change from the classic single-player or local multiplayer format.
Players will be able to form crews, compete in leaderboards, and take on cooperative challenges. The visual style keeps the bright, cartoonish aesthetic of the early 2000s titles, but with much higher detail and smoother animations. Sega has not yet announced a specific release date, but the game is expected to launch on multiple platforms. The long wait for a proper sequel appears to be finally ending, and the new direction suggests Sega is betting big on reviving one of its most beloved arcade franchises.
