You Can Now Officially Play Some Original Xbox Games On PC

Microsoft has officially launched its initiative to bring classic Xbox games to the Windows platform, starting with a handful of titles from the original console's library. The move marks a significant step in the company's long-term strategy to unify its gaming ecosystem across devices.

The initial lineup includes fan favorites such as "Fuzion Frenzy" and "Grabbed by the Ghoulies," both now available for purchase and download through the Microsoft Store on PC. According to the company, this is only the beginning of a broader effort to preserve and port older games that have been locked to aging hardware for nearly two decades.

The games run on PC via emulation, but Microsoft has optimized them to support modern features like save states, upscaled resolution, and controller compatibility. Players can expect smoother performance and quicker load times compared to the original hardware. The company has also confirmed that cloud saves will sync between PC and console versions where applicable.

This push follows years of community requests for better backward compatibility on PC. While Xbox Series X|S consoles already support a wide range of older titles, PC gamers have largely been left out of that program. By bringing original Xbox games to Windows, Microsoft is closing that gap and testing the waters for a larger catalog.

No timeline has been given for future releases, but the company hinted that more games are in the pipeline. For now, PC players can finally revisit a small slice of gaming history without needing a dusty console or a complicated emulator setup.
