FF7 Rebirth Chocobo Races: Best bird and equipment

Winning every Chocobo race at the Golden Saucer in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth comes down to more than just mashing the sprint button. You need the right bird and the right equipment to dominate the competition across all three courses.

First, you need to capture the best Chocobo. While the game gives you a starter bird, you will want to swap it out as soon as possible. The key is to find a Chocobo with high Stamina and good Speed. For the early races, a bird from the Grasslands region works fine. But for the later, tougher races in Corel and Gongaga, you need a bird with a naturally high top speed. The best option is the "Sylkis" type Chocobo, which you can find in the Gongaga region. This bird has excellent acceleration and handles tight turns much better than the bulky ones.

Next, you have to equip it properly. The gear you buy from the Chocobo Sage or find in the world is critical. For the saddle, always go for the "Chocobo Crown" or the "Gold Saddle" once you unlock it. These items drastically reduce the stamina drain from sprinting. For the reins, the "Reins of the Wind" are the best choice because they give you a burst of speed after using items. For the cushion, pick one that boosts your starting dash, like the "Racing Cushion." This lets you get ahead of the pack in the first few seconds, which is often enough to win.

Finally, do not ignore the items you can use during the race. Save your stamina for the final lap. Use a "Sylkis Greens" item right before the last straightaway to trigger a massive speed boost. With the right bird and this gear setup, you will clear every race without much trouble.
