A Texas teenager is speaking out after surviving a terrifying electrical shock when a lightning bolt struck his home while he was playing video games. The 15-year-old, identified as Jaden, was sitting in his bedroom last week when a sudden storm rolled through his neighborhood. Without warning, a bolt of lightning hit the house, sending a surge of electricity through the wiring and into his gaming console.
Jaden described the moment as feeling like "a punch to the chest." He said the shock traveled through his controller and into his hands, causing his muscles to lock up. "I couldn't let go. I thought I was going to die," he told local reporters. His mother rushed into the room after hearing a loud crack and found him shaking on the floor. She quickly unplugged the console and called for help.
Paramedics arrived and treated Jaden for minor burns on his palms and fingers. Doctors said he was lucky the current did not reach his heart. The family's home suffered damage to its electrical system, but no fire broke out. Jaden says he is grateful to be alive but admits he is now nervous about storms. He plans to unplug his electronics during bad weather from now on. The incident serves as a stark reminder that lightning can travel through household wiring, posing a danger even to those indoors.
