The Reality Of Xbox’s Plans For ‘Fallout,’ ‘Elder Scrolls,’ ‘Halo’ And More

The Reality Of Xbox’s Plans For ‘Fallout,’ ‘Elder Scrolls,’ ‘Halo’ And More

Microsoft has been hinting at a major push for its biggest franchises, but the actual timeline for new entries in series like Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Halo is more sobering than fans might hope. While a new Fallout game is reportedly arriving sooner than many expected, the broader picture for Xbox's flagship IPs is one of long waits and shifting priorities.

The good news for Fallout fans is that the next mainline installment is not as far off as previously feared. Following the massive success of the Amazon TV show and the renewed interest in Fallout 76, development on a new single-player title has been accelerated. However, that is where the optimism largely ends.

For The Elder Scrolls, the reality is that Starfield and the upcoming Fallout game will consume Bethesda's resources for years. The Elder Scrolls VI, announced years ago with only a teaser trailer, remains a distant project. It is likely still in pre-production and will not see a full release until well into the next console generation. Similarly, Halo is in a state of uncertainty. After the troubled launch of Halo Infinite and subsequent layoffs at 343 Industries, the future of the series is being re-evaluated. There is no clear release window for a new Halo game, and the franchise's identity is being reshaped behind closed doors.

In short, Xbox has a deep bench of iconic series, but the reality is that fans will be waiting years for the next big entries. The accelerated Fallout project is a bright spot, but it does not change the fact that the road ahead for Elder Scrolls and Halo is long and quiet.
