Destiny 2 is in a fantastic state at the moment, which is a bit of a shame because it comes right at the tail end of the game's current life cycle. While a lot of praise has gone to the new Prismatic subclass or the return of classic raids, I think one specific element deserves a lot more credit than it gets. That element is the sheer variety of viable builds.
For the first time in a long time, almost every subclass and exotic armor piece feels like it has a real purpose. You are no longer forced into a single meta loadout to be effective in endgame content. Want to run a Stasis Warlock with a weird grenade build? Go for it. Feel like using a Solar Titan with a sidearm? It actually works. The sandbox team has done an incredible job of balancing damage, survivability, and utility across the board. This variety makes grinding for new gear feel rewarding again because you know that new drop might unlock a completely different playstyle. It is not just about chasing the highest DPS number anymore. It is about finding a loop that feels satisfying to you. That freedom is what makes logging in every day so enjoyable, and it is something that Bungie should absolutely hold onto for the next chapter of the game.
