Sometimes a game's setting is so compelling that it carries you through the rougher patches. That is exactly the case with MOTORSLICE, a new PC title that offers a mixed bag of driving and combat mechanics wrapped inside an absolutely unforgettable world.
The core gameplay loop is, frankly, just okay. You drive, you slice, and you repeat. The combat can feel a bit loose, and the vehicle handling doesn't always reward precision. There were moments when I wished the controls had a tighter grip or that the missions offered more variety beyond the standard "drive here, destroy that" formula. It is not bad, but it never quite reaches the heights of the best action racers on the market.
But then you look up. You see the neon-lit highways stretching into a cracked skyline. You notice the strange, melancholic billboards and the quiet stories told through abandoned cars. The world of MOTORSLICE is dripping with atmosphere. It feels lived-in, broken, and deeply mysterious. The art direction and sound design work together to create a place that feels both dangerous and sad. I found myself driving slowly, not because I had to, but because I wanted to soak in every detail.
That is the hook. The gameplay is functional, but the world is magnetic. If you are a player who values atmosphere over tight mechanics, MOTORSLICE will pull you in and keep you hooked until the very end.
